In Lake Country the address decides the school: every home has a catchment school at each level, and you can look it up on the district's map before you offer. There are five public schools, all run by Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23): three elementary schools, a middle school and a secondary school. If schools matter to your search, I check the catchment for each home we look at.

How do I find the catchment school for an address?
Every address in the district has a catchment elementary, middle and secondary school. Enter the address in the district's online catchment map to see all three.
The district runs school buses only to a student's English catchment school.2
Is French Immersion available in Lake Country?
Yes. École Peter Greer Elementary offers early French Immersion from Kindergarten, and École H S Grenda Middle School continues it for Grades 6 to 8. The district's French Immersion page lists George Elliot Secondary for the high school years.
Students who stay in French Immersion to the end of Grade 12 graduate with two Dogwood diplomas, one in English and one in French.3
When can my child start French Immersion?
Early French Immersion starts in Kindergarten or Grade 1.
Late French Immersion starts in Grade 6; the district lists it at École Glenrosa Middle in West Kelowna, not in Lake Country.3
How do I register my child for school in Lake Country?
Apply online through the district's Student Enrolment Application. Students who live in the catchment are placed first; an application from outside it may not be answered until just before school starts.
Bring the child's birth certificate or other proof of age and citizenship, proof that a parent lives in BC (a BC driver's licence or BC Services Card) and proof of your address (a utility bill, lease or purchase agreement).4
Is there a college or university near Lake Country?
UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College's Kelowna campus are both within driving or transit distance, and the District of Lake Country says together they serve more than 12,000 post-secondary students.5
