Is Lake Country its own wine region?
Yes. Wine BC lists Lake Country as an area of the Okanagan Valley, officially designated in 2022, and calls it the northernmost grape-growing area in the valley.
Wine BC names Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay among its grapes.1
How many wineries are in Lake Country?
Tourism Lake Country counts eight. Eight wineries give a Lake Country address on their own sites: 50th Parallel Estate, Arrowleaf Cellars, Blind Tiger Vineyards, Ex Nihilo Vineyards, Gray Monk Estate Winery, Intrigue Wines, O'Rourke Family Estate and Peak Cellars.
Folktale Cider, in Oyama, makes cider rather than wine.2
Is there a wine trail in Lake Country?
Six of the wineries make up the Scenic Sip wine trail: 50th Parallel Estate, Blind Tiger Vineyards, Peak Cellars, Intrigue Wines, Ex Nihilo Vineyards and Gray Monk. The trail's site has a map of all six.3
Which Lake Country wineries have a restaurant?
50th Parallel Estate has Block One, which moves to an indoor room for the winter; Gray Monk has The Lookout Restaurant, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Peak Cellars has the Garden Bistro; and O'Rourke Family Estate has Row 188.
Ex Nihilo's Chaos Bistro is closed for a la carte service and runs a dinner series. Blind Tiger serves wood-fired pizza on its patio in season.4
Do I need to book a tasting?
At most, booking is recommended rather than required. Intrigue welcomes walk-ins, Ex Nihilo and Peak Cellars take them as space allows, and Gray Monk keeps a tasting bar for walk-ins only.
50th Parallel gives booked appointments priority over walk-ins, and O'Rourke Family Estate's tours and tastings are by reservation only.5
Are the wineries open in winter?
Some are. Intrigue's tasting room is open all year, and 50th Parallel's restaurant moves indoors for the winter.
Arrowleaf Cellars closes from 24 December to 28 February, and Blind Tiger Vineyards closed for the season on 27 September 2026. Check each winery's own hours before you go.6
Which wineries offer tours?
50th Parallel Estate runs tours alongside its tastings, Gray Monk runs a Vines and Views tour of its vineyard, and O'Rourke Family Estate runs private tours with a tasting, by reservation.7
Can I bring a picnic?
At two of them. Intrigue Wines has a picnic area open daily from May to October, and Arrowleaf Cellars has a picnic area and a patio, the patio open daily until 23 December.8
