Lake Country is four neighbourhoods along Highway 97 between Kelowna and Vernon: Winfield, Okanagan Centre, Carr's Landing and Oyama. Which one suits you comes down to the lake you want, the land you need and your drive to Kelowna. Okanagan, Wood and Kalamalka lakes all touch the district, and the airport is 10 to 16 minutes away. The District and its schools
Is Lake Country part of Kelowna?
No. Lake Country is its own municipality, the District of Lake Country, incorporated on 2 May 1995.
It sits between the City of Kelowna and the City of Vernon, and is made of four neighbourhood communities: Carr's Landing, Okanagan Centre, Oyama and Winfield.
It is the only municipality in British Columbia to use the ward system: each neighbourhood elects one council member.5
